Marcia Diane "Marcie" Draheim, 70, of Lisbon, formerly of the Cedar Rapids area, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in her Lisbon home, surrounded by her family and friends. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Morgan Funeral Chapel, Mount Vernon. Burial in Lone Tree Cemetery.

Survivors include her mother, Regina Draheim of Hiawatha; sisters, Cheryl Myers-Draheim of Columbia, Mo. and Marie Johnson (Ron) of Orlando, Fla.; niece, Deborah Myers of St. Louis, Mo.; her friends and caregivers, Marsha Stewart and Caprisia Mabie; and her favorite Yorkie, Alex.

Preceding Marcie in death was her father, superintendent of schools, Victor Draheim.

Marcie was born in Waseca, Minn., on Sept. 18, 1943, the first daughter of Victor and Regina McCoy Draheim. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1966, where she spent her entire professional career. She was instrumental in developing and managing the St. Luke's Diabetes Education Center. Following her retirement in 2005, she became the president of the American Association of Diabetes

Educators.

She was a recipient of the Smulekoff Nurse of the Year Award. She owned and operated Draheim Dimensional Presentations, writing software for diabetes education. She was a consultant for many health related corporations. Marcie was an accomplished musician, playing piano, trumpet and guitar.

She will always be remembered for having played Taps for military funeral services and many holidays, for her devotion to her patients, for her love of motorcycles and for a life of dedication, well lived. She was truly a "woman before her time."
