MARCENE ALAN HINES
Central City
Marcene Alan Hines, "Marty" or "Dunc," was born in Volga City, Iowa, on Sept. 23, 1949, to Roberto and Anna (Lamphier) Hines. He grew up in Clayton and Linn counties. He died on Dec. 20, 2020.
Marcene married Linda Werner on March 23, 1968, and through this union had two children.
Marcene spent most of his adult life in rural Central City, where he operated a small dairy farm and raised purebred dogs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, mushroom hunting and socializing with friends and family. He was known for telling jokes and being a prankster.
Marcene enjoyed singing and playing guitar as lead of the "Country Dice Band" and "Grey Eagle Band."
He was preceded in death by his parents: brothers, Burnell and Deryl Hines; and sister, Fern Pensel.
Left to mourn his death are his wife, Linda Hines; daughter, Lucinda (Jeff) Boyd; son, Shane Hines; sister, Phyllis Stahr; and grandchildren, Malcolm, Ananda, Wesley and Shyann.
