MARCELLA KRIZ

Marcella Marie Kriz, 80, of Clutier, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer, with Father Ray Atwood as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural Clutier. Visitation will be Sunday, May 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, 209 E. Seventh St., Tama, with a rosary following at 7 p.m.
Marcella was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Elberon, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Upah) Cecak. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1953. On June 13, 1964, she was united in marriage to Frank Kriz at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vining.
Marcella previously worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids and Van's Locker in Dysart. She also was a home daycare provider, babysitter and sorted and detasseled corn.
Marcella was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer, National Catholic Society of Foresters and KD Lodge. She was an avid card player, loved to bake and go fishing. She also enjoyed going to the casino, mushroom hunting and the outdoors. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Frank of Clutier; seven children, LaVonne Kriz of Clutier, Jeffrey (Karen) Kriz of Newton, Karla (Scott) Weber of Traer, Bruce (Angela) Kriz of Waterloo, Charlene (Chris) Birch of Tama, Mitchell (Shelley) Kriz of Dysart and Christy (Mark) Bradley of Traer; 17 grandchildren; her siblings, Dianne Pokorny of Clutier, Joyce Cecak of Tama, Marjorie Nekola of Tama, Dale (Judy) Cecak of Le Grand and Eddie (Shirley) Cecak of Newhall; and one sister-in-law, Mary Cecak of Toledo.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Marvin; one nephew, Jerry Cecak; and two brothers-in-law, Willard Nekola and Lester Pokorny.
A memorial fund has been established.
