Marcella Fisher, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Brosh Chapel & The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to
7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at the chapel.
Marcella was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Solon, the daughter of Joe and Sophia (Konecny) Hajek. She grew up on the family farm south of Ely. She then met the love of her life and married Leonard Fisher on June 11, 1946. They then moved to Cedar Rapids, where they raised their family. Marcella retired from Souvenir Pen and Pencil Factory after 32 years. She enjoyed polka dancing, baking kolaches for family and friends, and preparing a good home-cooked meal for her family. In her spare time, she liked to garden, grow flowers and put together jigsaw puzzles. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Marcella is survived by children, David (Ruth) Fisher and Diane Busch; grandchildren, Steve (Dawn) Fisher, Sherri (Josh) Wiebel, Jason (Kelli) Boyle, Joshua (Angela) Boyle and Tara (Michael) Schulte; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and one on the way; brother, Dick (Margaret) Hajek; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; brother, William Hajek; sisters, Wilma Skripsky and Geraldine Broulik; and son-in-law, Tom Busch.
