Marcelia Jayne Ripley, 89, formerly of New Liberty, slipped quietly into eternity on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in Northbrook Manor Care in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A memorial and celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. in Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett with Pastor Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Inland Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Marcelia, daughter of August and Eunice Wagner, was born on May 20, 1933, in rural Eliza Township in Illinois. Marcelia graduated from high school in Joy, Ill., and on July 29, 1953, Marcelia was united in marriage to Charles Lyle Ripley. Marcelia and Charles lived in rural New Liberty for many years before moving to Marion, Iowa. Together they raised three sons, Daniel, Brian and Richard. Marcelia was a member of the Peace Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Bennett.
Marcelia is survived by her sons, Daniel and wife Lisa of Hiawatha, Iowa, Brian and his wife Jean of Webster City, Iowa, and Richard and his wife, Connie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her two brothers, Wendell and Dwight. Marcelia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, on Jan. 22, 2012; and her siblings, Louis, Carl, Dick and Mary.
