Manternach, Debra A. 'Debbie'
Debra A. “Debbie” Manternach, 15, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City from injuries suffered in an automobile accident east of Blairstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at St. John's Catholic Church in Blairstown, with the Rev. Brian Dellaert as celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before mass on Wednesday. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown.
Debbie was born Oct. 23, 1995, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Steve and Barb Manternach. She was a freshman at Benton Community Schools, where she was active in jazz band and marching band, cheerleading, soccer and the Benton Blazers Dance Team. She was also a member of the Behip Horse Club, LeRoy Luckies 4-H Club and St. John's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her parents, Steve and Barb Manternach; her sisters, Jessica and Kathy, and brother, David, all of Watkins; and her grandparents, Paul and Elodie Manternach, Cedar Rapids, and Lorna Rieck, Luzerne.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Martin Rieck; and her aunt, Cheryl Rieck.
As an organ donor, Debbie is giving the gift of life to many others.
A memorial fund has been established.
