Mann, Jack Leroy
Jack Leroy Mann, son of Ralph and Edith (Conklin) Mann, was born Feb. 5, 1948, in West Union Hospital. Jack's death occurred Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the age of 63, at his home in West Union. A public visitation will be held today from 5 until 9 p.m. at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in West Union. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, with interment following the service at West Union Cemetery. Burnham-Wood & S.K. Rogers Funeral Homes in West Union is in charge of arrangements.
Jack served his country in Vietnam from 1968-1970 as a member of the United States Army. He later graduated with an associate degree from Kirkwood Community College and worked as a computer programmer until the age of 50. He then went to work for Imperial Roofing.
He enjoyed playing cards and pool with friends. Jack also kept active playing softball and going horseback riding. In his free time he enjoyed traveling and spent numerous hours “dinking around.”
Jack is survived by a son, Troy (Sherry) Mann of Hiawatha; a daughter, Carrie Mann; two grandchildren, Hunter and Makenna Mann of Hiawatha; his mother, Edith Mann of West Union; a beloved friend, Shelley Cowell of West Union; a brother, Tom (Jaci) Mann of West Union; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Mann; and two sisters, Nancy Knapp and Judy Miller.
