Manfull, Bernice Staker
Bernice Staker Manfull, 94, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Friendship Village Care Center in Cedar Falls. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at United Methodist Church in Traer. Burial will be at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer, following the service. Visitation will be Monday, with the family being present from 4 to 7 p.m., at Overton Funeral Home in Traer.
Born June 19, 1918, in Tama County, Bernice was the daughter of Herman and Dora Nessler Staker. She grew up on a farm between Gladbrook and Traer. She graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1936 and married Arthur Manfull Jr., of Traer on Dec. 25, 1936. She and her husband farmed near Elberon and west of Buckingham until they moved into Traer in 1968. Bernice worked at Frank's Shoe Store in Traer for 19 years and drove a school bus for North Tama Schools for 13 years.
Bernice loved to bowl, dance, attend sporting events, travel, and spend time with her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Barbara Winterroth and husband Richard of Reinbeck; sons, Dennis Manfull and his wife, Kathie, of Dysart, Sidney Manfull and his wife, Donna, of Washington, and Kim Manfull and his wife, Kelli, of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; parents; brothers, LeRoy Staker and Wayne Staker; and her sister, Marlys Vesley.
A memorial fund has been established.
