Malone, Dorene A. Polton

Dorene A. Polton Malone, 65, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. William B. Harnish officiating. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include daughter, Brandy Kirchhoff-Joyner of Cedar Rapids; son, Dennis (Courtnee) Malone of Tempe, Ariz.; one brother, Donald (Terri) Polton of Belle Plaine; five sisters, Dawn (Thom) Brackett of Mesa, Ariz., Mary (Ray) Cameron of Casa Grande, Ariz., Kristine Polton of Cedar Rapids, Karol (Dennis) Malone of Anchorage, Alaska, and Lois (Roger) Quandt of Robins; four grandchildren, Michael, Ruthie, Lauren and Molly; two great-grandchildren, Artemis and Aveta; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Malone; and her parents.

Dorene was born Sept. 20, 1946, daughter of Donald and Virginia Polton. She worked at Jim's Laundromat and Dragon Restaurant in Cedar Rapids. Dorene loved to play bingo, travel, crocheting and most of all she loved her children and grandchildren.
