Memorial services for Malinda V. Dittberner, 91, of rural Solon, who died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at St. Peter and Paul Church, rural Solon. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Solon, at another time.
Malinda Viola Reif was born April 20, 1924, on the Reif brother's farm to John J. and Mae (Hahn) Reif. Malinda graduated from Stone Academy, rural Solon. She worked for an area family providing cleaning and child care services. On Feb. 2, 1949, she married Edward F. Dittberner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Malinda and Edward lived for a short period of time in Toddville. Edward purchased the Klouda homestead near St. Peter and Paul Church, where they raised Chester White pigs, milked, and raised beef cattle, poultry and goats. Melinda farmed with her husband until his death on Sept. 9, 1965. Malinda raised her 4-year-old daughter with her parents after Edward died. Malinda continued to farm, raising beef cattle and hundreds of sheep.
Malinda is survived by her daughter, Malinda Mae (David) Poduska, and grandson, Ambrose, of rural Lowden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters-in-law, Ellen Dittberner Sabin and Erna (Leonard) Petsel.
