Mainus, Vera Louise Henderson

Vera Louise Henderson Mainus, 90, of Bakersfield, Calif., died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013. Per Vera's request, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Edd in Greenlawn Cemetery Bakersfield, Calif.

Survivors include her children, Linda Sutherland of Marion, Mary Thorn of Bakersfield, Calif., and Rosa Mae (Joni) Reissman of Sun City, Calif.; and grandchildren, Kelly Schott of Gladbrook, Colleen Keach of West Warwick, R.I., Richard Yarnes Jr. of LaCrescenta, Calif., Becky Weaver of Chino, Calif., Connie Thorn of Bakersfiel, Calif., Jeffery Thorn of Bakersfiled, Debra Brown of Coucamonga, Calif., Keith McLaughlin of Bakersfield, Laura Nelsen of Flanders, N.J. and Bradley Henderson, Redding, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edd Mainus; son, Richard Henderson; husband, John Henderson; brother, Carl Clark; and sister, Mary McAnally.

Vera was born May 4, 1923, to Ersie and Catherine Clark in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and lived most of her early life in the Waterloo/Cedar Rapids area. She lived in Tuscon, Ariz., before moving to Bakersfield. Vera loved her cats, baking and playing cards. She was well known for her legendary spoon collection and famous lemon meringue pie.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this hard time.
