Maier, Irene Pauline

Irene Pauline Maier, 90, born on May 16, 1923, in Irvington, N.J., passed away peacefully Friday, May 24, 2013. She had been living with her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Dan Appleby of Cedar Rapids since March 2011 after living much of her life in Milwaukee, Wis., with her seven daughters and beloved husband, Robert Jules Maier, who preceded her in death in January 2003.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Bob Figg), Pat (Ralph Rodman), Jean (Ed Inderrieden), Mary (Greg Sniadach), Theresa (Dan Appleby), Irene (Kevin Moriarty) and JoAnn (Bill West); her nine grandchildren, Jessica Sniadach, Nick Appleby, Maggie Sniadach, Christine Appleby, Amanda Moriarty, Mary Inderrieden, Sarah Moriarty, Brad Figg and Abby West; and many relatives and friends.

Irene loved time with her children and grandchildren, her friends at Milestones Adult Day Care, dancing, word puzzles and music. She had been a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was very grateful for the blessed life she knew God provided for her.

A private memorial service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon, Wis., where she will be interred.

Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy (Hiawatha, Iowa) where she received such tender care in her last days.
