Mahlon "Willis" Conrad, 98, of Manchester, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Gospel Hall, Manchester, by Robert Orr. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27,
at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, and one hour before the service Monday at the Hall. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Betty; his sons, Mahlon "Mal" Conrad and Steve S. Conrad; two grandchildren, Chris and Luke Conrad; three grandchildren, Bailey, Sydney and Caden Conrad; sister, Margaret (Cecil) Sankey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Bettina Sue Conrad; a brother, three sisters and two daughters-in-law.
Willis was born Nov. 1, 1915, the son of Mahlon and Maude (Griffith) Conrad, in Otterville, Iowa. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On Aug. 30, 1944, Mahlon was united in marriage to Betty Smith, in Manchester. He worked in the industrial construction business as an electrician.
Willis enjoyed fixing clocks after his retirement and loved to play the harmonica and violin. He attended Bible conferences all over the Midwest.
