Madalene Harrison, 97, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines. A celebration of her life will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. The celebration will be from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5. A light buffet will be served.
She was born on July 9, 1917, to Rollo Gilbert and Gladice Merritt Batcheler. Madalene grew up on the family farm and graduated from Central City High School. She was a talented musician and was an avid golfer and world traveler with her husband. Later, Madalene became an accomplished oil painter.
She is survived by her loving children, Jean (Eugene) Ogrod and Harvey (Ellen Taylor) Harrison; grandchildren, Sean (Lauran) Harrison and Tania (David) Schramm; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Ruth, Grace, Joe, and Ben; brother, Robert Batcheler; and dear friend, Paula Blesi.
Madalene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herschell "Shorty" Harrison; and sister, Shirley Beebe.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, Monticello.
