Mack Roland Gibson, 78,
of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Going Home services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at First Congregational Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Rufus Johnson officiating. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Survivors include his children, Daisy Gibson of Flint, Mich., Sarah McClinton of Burton, Mich., Mack Gibson Jr. of Flint, Lorinda Ampey of Marion, Rowland Gibson of Cedar Rapids, David Wright of Las Vegas, Nev., Choyce Jackson of Cedar Rapids, Mercedes Robinson of Cedar Rapids, Eric John Gibson of Cedar Rapids and Sharon Littleton of Atlanta, Ga.; and brothers, William Earl Gibson and Edgar Gibson. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eric; daughter, Merdido; three sisters, Jessie, Martha Ruth and Doris; and two brothers, Ernest and Wilford.
Mack Roland Gibson was born Sept. 12, 1937, in Cedar Bluff, Miss., the son of Ernest and Sarah (Bell) Gibson. He served in the U.S. Navy and then served as an airborne ranger in the U.S. Army.
Memorial donations may be given in his name to the United Way.
