Mack, Elsie Mae
Elsie Mae Mack, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Hallmar, Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 3650 Cottage Grove Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Father Fred Shaheen officiating. Burial will take place at St. George Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church, where a Trisagion service will be celebrated at 7 p.m.
Elsie was born Oct. 13, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Salem and Julia (Ruffin) Slaman. Elsie Mae Slaman married William Leroy Mack on August 17, 1947, in Cedar Rapids. William passed away on Jan. 4, 2001. Elsie was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed her family, bowling, Westerns, Hawkeye basketball and Kings and Queens bus trips to Meskwaki. She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
Survivors include her children, Nancy (Bill) Williamson of Cedar Rapids, Patty (Larry) Netolicky of Fairfax, and Sherri (Rick) Vice of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Bret Williamson, Kelly (Josh) Draper, Michelle (Dan) Steines and Mike (Suzie) Netolicky; and her great-grandchildren Tyler Steines, and Isabelle and Colton Netolicky; and Elsie was looking forward to her newest great-grandchild, Baby Draper.
Also surviving are one sister, Louise Kustes; and one brother, Jim (Jeanie) Slaman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents; two brothers, Louis and Ted Slaman; and her beloved, Yorkie “Beau.”
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Elsie's memory.
