Mace, Marion Lou
Marion Lou Mace, 83, formerly of Agency, died at 8:15 p.m. April 14, 2011, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with Pastor David Albert of Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Ottumwa. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m.
She was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Lewis Edgar and Mary Mabel (Smith) Dolton. She married Daniel Maxwell Mace Jr. on Nov. 13, 1943, in Lancaster, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2011, in Ottumwa.
She had worked at the Stardust Motel in Ottumwa in housekeeping and as a clerk.
She was a member of the Agency Saddle Club, TTT in Agency and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and golfing in a foursome.
Surviving are two sons, Ron (Karen) Mace of Cedar Rapids and Gale Mace of Sperry; four grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Kent of Agency, Jim (Cathy) Mace of Loveland, Ohio, Traci (Dub) VanHyning of Denmark, Iowa and Jamie (Mike) Boynton of Muscatine; two stepgrandsons, Scott (Robyn) Eastin of Monticello and Chris Eastin of Fort Madison; five great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Smithhart of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Martha Hartley; three half sisters, Hazel, Dorothy and Eunice Dolton; a brother, Irvin Dolton; and two half brothers, Robert and Don Dolton.
Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation for her wonderful care by the kind and patient caregivers at the Hiawatha Care Center and Promise House.
