Mac J Sayers, 88, of Marengo, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Marengo, with the Rev. Father Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Marengo. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 21, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to Essence of Life Hospice, the Marengo Memorial Hospital or Iowa Public Television.
Mac is survived by his wife, Elsie; his children, Vicki Davidson (Bob) of Amana, James "Jim" Sayers (Vanessa) of Belle Plaine, Carla Myers (Chuck) of Hartford, Adda Sayers (TJ) of Urbandale, Susan Bell of Marengo, Nancee Herman (Dale) of Atkins and Justin Sayers (Sheila) of Marengo; stepchildren, Cindy Walter (Kevin), Dan Hollrah (Chris) and J. Brian Hollrah; 16 grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Knudtson, Jessica (Steve) Cerveny, Benjamin Sayers, Andrew Sayers, Chantel Teachout, Canada (Matt) Snyder, Carissa (Tony) Nusbaum, Shayla Bell, Spencer Bell, Senra (Nathan) Whitters, Sara Herman, Nolan Herman, Nathan Herman, Nevin Herman, Stella Sayers and William Sayers; 10 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, Lacie (Tim) Blattner, Abbie (Taylor) Maxfield, Sara Hollrah, Andrea Hollrah, Rebecca (Kyle) Campbell and Anneli Hollrah; and a step-great-grandchild. Also surviving is his sister, Sally Anderson of Santa Barbara, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mabelle Rogers Sayers; his first wife, Darlene Eckert Sayers; a son, Dudley; a daughter, Paula; and three brothers, William, James and Dean "Bud" Sayers.
