Mabel Ann Hunnicutt, 89, of Cedar Rapids, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on July 15, 2015, following a sudden illness. A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Mabel was born on Dec. 30, 1925, to Thomas and Florence Price in Lime Springs, Iowa. After graduating, she attended Coe College, obtaining her teaching degree in 1948. In 1969, Mabel married her husband of 25 years, Mark Hunnicutt, who passed away in 1994. After 43 years of teaching, she retired from Harrison Elementary in Cedar Rapids in 1990. Mabel stayed active after retirement, being involved in bridge club, playing golf, her church and the women's club.
Mabel is survived by her grand-daughter, Tabatha Jones (Stenis Strums) and their three children; sister, Evelyn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, parents, son, Jeffery Jones, and two brothers, Edwin and Tudor Price.
