M. KATHLEEN "KATIE" FAHEY

M. Kathleen "Katie" Fahey, 84, formerly of Dubuque, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center, Coralville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dubuque. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Katie Fahey Memorial Fund at P.O. Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52244.
She was born on June 25, 1931, in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret (Naughton) Wandling. She graduated from Marengo High School, Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City and later received her BSN from the University of Dubuque. She was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Fahey on Feb. 12, 1955, in Marengo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2002.
Katie worked as a nurse in Dubuque for the VNA and public school district for many years. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Church and an associate with the Presentation Sisters. She enjoyed volunteering and spending time with her family and friends.
Katie is survived by her four daughters, Peg Fahey-Graf of Lombard, Ill., Patricia (Scott) Koster of Folly Beach, S.C., Anne (Rich) Heim of Lombard, Ill., and Sharon (Patrick Moore) Fahey of Coralville; 10 grandchildren, Jerdell and Shatiquia Graf, Mariah Koster, Christine (Jacob) Wirth, Emily, Michael and Meredith Heim, Jessica (Andrew) Bys and Sean and Caitlin Moore; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ashlynne and Austin Bys; and one sister, Lucy Dietrich of Cedar Rapids.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; two sisters, Peg Norton and Mickey Hanson; and son-in-law, Rodney Graf.
