M. June Hentges, 89, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County.
June chose cremation. Private services and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Algona, Iowa. Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or the Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling June's arrangements.
Born June 23, 1929, in Algona, June grew up in the Algona area.
June met and later married Howard Hentges in Algona on June 7, 1949, and raised their family in Algona. She enjoyed bird watching, visiting the casinos and staying current on her soap operas.
June worked as a nurse's aide at the (then) Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona for many years.
She is survived by her children, Donna Muller (Jack), Brian Hentges and Dwayne Hentges, all of Iowa City, Iowa, and Gordon Hentges (Winna) of Spencer, Iowa.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Nicole Muller of Minneapolis, Minn., Jacob Muller of Coralville, Iowa, and Amanda Hentges of Ankeny, Iowa.
Her parents; her husband; a son, Dwight; a grandson, Adam; and a nephew preceded her in death.
