M. Barbara Pattison, 85,
of Coralville, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at Windmill Manor, Coralville, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Survivors include siblings, Lydon (Roberta) Swartzendruber of Bondurant, Ken (Melva) Swartzendruber of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Ellen (Bill) Kapp of Iowa City; children, David (Ann) Pattison of Cedar Rapids and Cheryl (Stan) Ridgeway of Iowa City; grandchildren, William (Irina) Pattison of Jersey City, N.J., Emily (Shane Paustian) Pattison of Cedar Rapids, Brian (Ashtin Bryde) Pattison of Kansas City, Mo., Michael Pattison of Storm Lake and Nicole (Eric) Pershing of Liberty, Mo.; and great-grandchildren, Leah and Ashlynn Pershing of Liberty, Mo.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Etta Swartzendruber; husband, Robert Pattison; and brother, Budrow (Marje) Swartzendruber.
Barbara was born May 30, 1932, in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of Bill and Etta (Neis) Swartzendruber. She graduated from Wellman High School in 1949 and Simpson College in 1954. Barbara was a loving wife and parent. For the bulk of her career Barbara taught high school English and drama in Winfield, West Des Moines and Fairfield, Iowa, Florida and South Carolina.
She was a member of the Cedar Rapids Shakespeare Club, enjoyed playing piano, singing and being with family. After retiring from teaching, she and her husband moved to Cedar Rapids and then Marion. She last lived at Windmill Manor in Coralville.
