Lynott, Ellen Therese
Ellen Therese Lynott, 86, of 950 Grey Wolf Ct., Hiawatha, passed away in her home Saturday, June 5, 2010. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6 tonight at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. and again 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Ellen is survived by her children, Tom Lynott of Hiawatha, Peggy (Roger) Geesaman of Marion, Cathy (Gary) Schmitz of Sumner, Dick (Janet) Lynott of Hiawatha, Bob (Patty) Lynott of Ithaca, N.Y., Mary (Bob) Dozier of Hudson, Ill., Therese (Pat) Healy of Homewood, Ill., Joan (Trent) Mobley of Centerville and Patty Lynott of Hiawatha; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Heitmeyer of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Anne Brems and Helen Benning, both of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Marceil Kennedy of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward (died 1978); son, Jim Lynott; three sisters, Rita Puth, Madeline Kelsh and Frances Haberle; and two brothers, Joseph and Tim Kennedy.
Ellen Therese Kennedy was born April 29, 1924, daughter of Thomas and Mary Agnes (Butler) Kennedy in Parnell. She married Edward Lynott on June 28, 1947. She was a 1943 graduate of Immaculate Conception Catholic School and a life long member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Ellen enjoyed spending time with all of her family, friends, and grandchildren, preparing meals with them, and sharing her witty sense of humor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend who will be missed by those whose lives she touched. She enjoyed the beautiful outdoors and was a loyal Hawkeye fan.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
