Lynn E. Pender, 73, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at his home in Blairstown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Norway Methodist Church with Pastor Crystal Oberheu officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, also at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.
Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Lynn Edward Pender was born Sept. 23, 1943, to Phillip and Velma (Carter) Pender in Milton, Iowa. He graduated from Fox Valley High School. He was united in marriage to Shirley Eggenburg on Oct. 16, 1976, in Muscatine. Lynn worked as a meat cutter for several area supermarkets and for Sutton Meat Locker in Newhall.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Blairstown; his children, Todd (Julie Arnold) Pender, Trena Wiederhold and Troy (Robin Harris) Pender, all of Cedar Rapids, Greg Carter of Iowa City, Jadean Roggentien of Belle Plaine and Jennifer (Doug) Wilson of Decorah; his 11 grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Marcella (Bill) Prevo of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Marlene (John Jordan) Henry of Memphis, Mo.; his two brothers, Leo (Pat) Pender of Silvis, Ill., and Larry (Barb) Pender of Burlington; his sisters-in-law, Donna Pender of East Moline, Ill., and Gene Pender of Columbus, Ga.; and his brother-in-law, Larry Moffitt of Leon.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mildred, Marge and Mary Lou; and his brothers, Lester, Lawrence and Lowell.
