Lynda M. Woodford Filip, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at Linn Manor in Marion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lynda Mae Woodford Filip was born
Aug. 16, 1936, to Ernest and Elnora Lovell Woodford, in Cedar Rapids. She obtained her master's degree in education from Clarke College in Dubuque. Lynda worked as a reading specialist for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be forever missed.
She is survived by her children, Russell (Kathy) Filip of Monticello, Daniel (Denise) Filip and David (Lisa) Filip, both of Cedar Rapids; brother, Rusty (Gina) Woodford of Maryland; grandchildren, Brian (Robin), Sara (Justin), Colby (Stefanie), Alyssa, Tanner, Matthew and Kara; and great-grandchildren, Dominic, Sofia, Ava, Evan and Finley.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Sally Wilson and Leotta Woodford.
She worked for the Cedar Rapids Community School District. After retiring, Lynda volunteered many hours at Polk and Truman elementary schools, as well as at a local food bank.
A memorial fund has been established.
