Lynch, Cleo L.
Cleo L. Lynch, 81, of Coralville, died peacefully Monday, March 1, 2010, at Mercy Hospice, Iowa City. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A luncheon at The Kirkwood Room will follow the committal. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Cleo was born March 10, 1928, near Hills, Iowa, the son of James and Blanche Vedepo Lynch. On August 19, 1947, he married Pauline Ozenbaugh at St. Mary's Church in Iowa City.
Cleo had been employed as a locksmith at the UI Physical Plant, retiring in 1991. He and the family farmed near Hills, before moving to Coralville in 1957.
Cleo enjoyed woodworking and when his children were younger he was actively involved with Coralville Little League Baseball. He and Pauline often traveled with the Hills Bank Friends Club.
Cleo his survived by his wife, Pauline; and their two children and two grandchildren, Rod (Kim) Lynch of North Liberty, and Deb (Dave) Johnson of Solon, and their children Jordie and Nicholas; two sisters, Bernadine (Marvin) Goody of Hills, and Cecilia (Clarence) Kessler of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Helen Lynch of Coralville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Colton; and three siblings, Melvin, James and Lenora Burr.
