Lyle W. Berns, 53, of Anchorage, Alaska, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. Graveside services with military rites: 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Natalia Payne of Bloomington, Ind., and Carly Galovin of Milwaukee, Wis.; his parents, Bill and Norma of Marion; and two sisters, Barb (Bobbie) Berns Van Hoeck (Doug) of Cedar Rapids and Terri Vance of Audubon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Tonie Blohm.
Lyle was born on May 27, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Bill and Norma Kelley Berns. He worked in restaurant maintenance for C&R Enterprises for over 28 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, and enjoyed the Alaskan outdoors hunting, fishing, backpacking, target shooting and camping. He forever will be remembered as a wonderful father, son, brother and friend, whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established.
