Lyle LaVern Rose, 69, of Central City, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
July 19, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Central City. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 18, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila; children, Becky (Tom) Recker of Cascade, Kelly (Bret) Baughman of Cedar Rapids, David (Brittni) Rose of Central City and Bryan Rose of Central City; seven grandchildren, Megan, Michaela and Mitchell Recker, Breanne, Karissa and Kole Baughman and Kayleigh Rose; and siblings, Dennis (Bev) Rose of Cedar Rapids and Jackie Rose of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sharon Iehl; a brother-in-law, David Iehl; a nephew, Gene Iehl; and a niece, Nancy Iehl.
Lyle was born March 17, 1945, in Oelwein, the son of Lonnie and Hedwig (Wunder) Rose. He was a graduate of Kirkwood Community College. Lyle married Sheila Sullivan on June 25, 1976, in Cedar Rapids. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed observing his cows. He worked in construction for over 25 years.
He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
