Lyle was born Nov. 10, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Walter L. Post Jr. and Marjorie G. Williams. He passed away Oct. 7, 2016.
He joined the Episcopal Church at an early age and graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1963. Lyle served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was assigned to a Hawk missile unit while stationed in Germany. In 1972, he moved to Missouri, where he met his wife, Paula Rose Trump. He worked as a distribution manager, retail sales manager and district manager.
He loved to fish, cook, research his family history and spend time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion - Missouri 0061.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph C. Post; and infant granddaughter, Jessie L. Post.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Paula R. Post of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Jeffrey M. (Robin) Post of Holt, Mo.; and daughter, Jennifer L. (Michael) Phillips of Kansas City, Mo. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Colt Post, Alexandria and Christopher Phillips; sister, Kathy Wieland; brother, Keith Post of Cedar Rapids; aunt, Geraldine Roth of Dubuque; and numerous other loved ones.
It is suggested instead of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N. Antioch Rd., Gladstone, Mo. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Gladstone, Mo.
