Lyle D. Krug, 71, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids with visitation to begin at 10:30 a.m. Wearing Iowa State colors in memory of Lyle is welcomed. Burial will take place at Garrison Cemetery, Garrison, Iowa.
Lyle was born December 23, 1953, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Kenneth “Kenny” and Marjorie (Chizum) Krug. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton in 1972 and went on to Iowa State University to receive his Bachelor’s Degree. Lyle worked for Cummins Central Power in Cedar Rapids for 39 years prior to his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the CRCC (Cedar Rapids Coin Club); former Executive Board Member of CRCC; member of Apple Parer Enthusiast Society (APES); Kollectors of Old Kitchen Stuff (KOOKS); Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) both local and national; Pontiac-Oakland Club International (POCI); The Allis Connection; and Iowa State Alumni Association.
Survivors include his siblings, David Krug (Marvin Kerr) of North Liberty, Iowa, Connie (Milo) Kearns of Vinton, Larry (Allyn) Krug of Long Grove, Iowa, Kathy Krug of West Branch, Iowa, and Tom Krug of Oak Harbor, Washington; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd Krug; and sister-in-law, Renee Krug.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the ISU Scholarship Foundation.
