Lydia Tobin, 77, of Marengo, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. A private inurnment was held at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Lydia was born on November 26, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Evert and Magdalena Pearson. She graduated from Washington High School and worked as a secretary. Lydia was a gifted artist, who loved beading many pieces of jewelry from family and friends.
She is survived by, her significant other, Jim Schmuecker; two children, Todd (Lori) Whitesell; and Dee (Ron) Birdwell; four stepchildren, Susan (Ron); Mark (Kristi); Nancy (Todd) and Joan; grandchildren, Hannah Whitesell, Zachariah, Caile and Rickey Birdwell; siblings, Magdalena Pearson and Ellen (Joe) Hakes; nephews and nieces, Brenton (Tonya); Brandon (Kamille), Braxton (Erin); special companion, her fur baby Ted; and many loving great-nephews, great-nieces, and family members.
Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Evert Pearson Jr. on April 4, 2024, and stepson, Barry Schmuecker.
