Lutz, Bess 'Bea' H.

Bess “Bea” H. Lutz, 92, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Survivors include her children, Nancy Bowen of Keota, Linda (Bruce) McKinnon of Everett, Wash., and Mike (Kim) of Amana; seven grandchildren, Robin Potts, Jeff Bowen, Michael Peck, Matt Lutz, Michelle Lutz, Kaitlin McKinnon and Kaia McKinnon; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Bea was preceded in death by her son Jimmy Lutz; 12 brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Vic Bowen.

Bea was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Arthur Edward and Margaret Mary Evans Wright. During her lifetime she lived many places, including Kansas City, Kan., Washington, D.C., Arlington, Va., Quantico, Va., Silver Spring, Md., Bethesda, Md., and Houston, Texas.

Bea cherished her time with family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor, sharp wit and was extremely independent. Bea was an avid reader, walked daily, enjoyed traveling, and loved emailing.

She will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Bea's name to Horizons/Meals on Wheels.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
