Lurline Gardemann, 78, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at Rock Ridge Residential Care in Shellsburg following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with the Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
Lurline was born Sept. 11, 1937, at Blue Grass, Iowa, to Stanley and Goldie (Ahrens) Braksiek. She graduated from high school in Vinton. On Sept. 13, 1959, she was united in marriage to Douglas Gardemann at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Lurline was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Michael (Angie) Gardemann of Newhall and Kim (David) Stevenson of Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Maxine (Melvin) Happel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Douglas, who died in 2009.
