Lund, Emmert Laverne
Emmert Laverne Lund, 90, of Traer, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo.
Emmert was born March 30, 1922, in Audubon, Iowa, to Chris and Minnie (Rasmussen) Lund. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton, Iowa. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served in World War II on the USS Chandeleur. He worked many years at the seed company in Traer.
Emmert is survived by four brothers, Chuck of La Porte City, Fred of Loveland, Colo., Russ (Carol) of Newhall and Larry (Beth) of Cedar Rapids; and his four sisters, Gladys Hummel of Vinton, Shirley Jurgens of Keystone, Kathy Smith of Vinton and Barbara (Ross) Behel of Shellsburg. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Tom Gutzeit of Onslow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Gutzeit; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell Hummel, Dean Jurgens, Dolores Lund and Ruth Lund.
Emmert was a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer for the past four years. The family would like to thank them for the care and friendship they gave him.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
