Lula Mae Cook, 75, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023. Lula was the daughter of Nathan Williams and Nannie Sue Pledge of Grand Junction, Tenn., born Oct. 19, 1947.
Lula leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters; Kathy Cook of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cartina (Leonard) Wright of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Tammy Cook of Des Moines, Iowa; three sons, Jerome Cook of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Billy Cook of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Charles D. (Margaret) Cook of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Emma Jean Williams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Georgia Browning of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five brothers; Roy Williams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Edward Williams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Terri Browning of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Melvin Browning of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Bernard Browning of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, family and friends.
Lula Mae was preceded in death by her father Nathan Williams, her mother Nannie Sue Pledge, her late husband Charles E. Cook, brothers Joe Williams and Willie Rae Williams.
Visitation will be held Friday Nov. 3, 2023, 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4200 First Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1285 Third Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery.
