Lula Fisher, 95, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from complications of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with a service beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
Lula was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids starting at a young age to help support her family. She married Raymond "Bud" Fisher on March 8, 1943. They farmed in the Mechanicsville area all of their life.
Lula was a member of St. Mary's Guild and her neighborhood club. She enjoyed farm life and quilting.
Survivors include her four children, Fred, Kathleen, Linda and Ed; a special niece, Judy; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond, in 1998; two brothers; and two sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Arbor Place for their warm and supportive care.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or St. Luke's Hospice.
