Lugene 'Gene' W. Cromer Jr., Lugene 'Gene' W. Cromer Jr.
Lugene “Gene” W. Cromer Jr., 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in his home, with his loving family. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Dr. T. Edwards Breed of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Donna; his children, Kent (Kim) Cromer of Marion and Kara (Kelly) Leyse of Marion; his granddaughter, Madalyn Leyse; stepgrandchildren, Wayne and Diane Canterbury; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, all of Marion; two sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Cromer.
Lugene was born June 2, 1934, in Oakland, Neb., the son of Lugene and Margaret (Olson) Cromer Sr. He married Donna J. Vollers on July 15, 1956, in Pender, Neb. Lugene was employed at Rockwell as an electronic test technician.
He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and Marion American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and NASCAR. Lugene served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
