Luella May Wittenburg,
89, of Lisbon, formerly of Martelle, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Springville, with the Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at Springville Cemetery, Springville, Iowa.
Luella was born on Jan. 8, 1929, in rural Ladora, Iowa, the daughter of Friedrich and Minnie (Niestedt) Lohman. She attended the country school in rural Ladora. On July 2, 1950, Luella married Frederick Henry Wittenburg. She was a farm wife and homemaker, raising and caring for her family. Luella was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, cooking, and baking cookies for everyone. Luella loved traveling with family and attending family functions, especially to watch her grandchildren's activities. Luella was a member of the Martelle United Methodist Church, practicing a strong faith while attending church regularly. She also was a member of the Neighborhood Home Craft and Culture Club. Luella will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Luella is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Larry (Lori) Wittenburg of Springville and their children, Nichole (fiancé, Andy Hatch) and Madison; Allan (Kim) Wittenburg of Springville and their children, Kalli, and Zach (Lauren) and children, Finley and Boone; Leroy (Barbara) Wittenburg of Springville and their children, Amanda, Julie (John) Bowers and daughter, Mia, Michael (fiancé, Katilyn Godwin), and Nathan (fiancé, Jazmynn Kroon); Jane (Steve) Eiben of Springville and their children, Nancy (Mike) Lyman and children, Emily and Brooks, and Katie (Cody) Osburn and children, Noah and Ellie; Joan (Scott) Ehlts of Mount Vernon and their children, Jessica (David) Clark and children, Miles and Emma, and Nick (Nikita) Ehlts and children, Josalyn and Kora; daughter-in-law, Cindy Wittenburg of Springville and her children, Brad and children, Taryn, Audrey, and Lily, Matt (Natalie) Wittenburg and children, Aleena, Jack, and Grant, Stacy (Anthony) Mason and children, Caleb and Logan, and Crystal Dietiker and children, Tristan and Alexis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Lohman; parents; one son, Don Wittenburg; husband, Fred; and one grandson-in-law, Tony Dietiker.
Memorials may be made to either Springville United Methodist Church or the Essence of Life Hospice Care in Luella's name.
