Luedeman, Eugene 'Gene'
Eugene “Gene” Luedeman, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Jonathan Offt. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Joann; nine children, Darla (Richard) Kremenak, Jo Luedeman, Bruce (Marci) Luedeman, Lynn (Mike) Orwig, Kathy (John) Burks, Jeff (Terrie) Peck, Terry (Donna) Peck, Don (Brenda) Peck and Eric (Kathy Lea) Luedeman; 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leonard and Clark.
Eugene was born March 4, 1931, the son of Otto and Fern (Bowman) Luedeman in Cedar Rapids. He married Joann Kiefer on June 25, 1973, in Chicago. Eugene had a Cornell Station in the late 40s, drove a truck for his brother at Luedeman Trucking and then for himself. He worked at Goodyear for five years, then with Mark Fonck at 30 West DX for about 20 years, Luedeman Tire Service for 10 years and at ASAC for 15 years.
Eugene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, his Jet Boat, dogs, square dancing and WWE Wrestling.
Eugene cherished his family, friends, and his dog, “Angel.”
A memorial fund has been established in Eugene's memory.
