Ludvigson Jr., Casper R.
Casper R. Ludvigson Jr., 73, of Edgewood, died Thursday morning, Oct. 20, 2011, at the home he built for his family in Edgewood. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Edgewood, with Pastor Mike Jackson and the Rev. Mary Green officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood. Inurnment: Edgewood Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 8, 1937, in Madison, Minn., the son of Casper R. and Margie M. (Snider) Ludvigson. Casper received his education in Madison, where he participated in gymnastics in high school, graduating with the class of 1955.
Following high school, Casper entered the United States Army in 1961 and served at Fort Bragg, N.C., until he was honorably discharged in 1963.
On July 31, 1965, at Rockwell, Iowa, Casper was united in marriage to Donna J. Parks, the love of his life, whom he met at her parent's farm in 1963. Following their marriage, they made their home in Mason City, living there for six years. Casper and his family then moved to Edgewood.
He was employed with Interstate Power Co., now called Alliant Energy, throughout his entire working career. Casper was a lineman in Mason City, and then he became a service representative for 24 years while in Edgewood. Casper retired in 1995.
He was a hardworking man who totally remodeled two homes, and built another while maintaining a large yard and garden. Hobbies Casper enjoyed into his 60s were playing basketball and volleyball. Casper also enjoyed traveling, country music and playing cards. His extended family thoroughly enjoyed the kid in him.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna, of Edgewood; two sons, Lonnie Ludvigson and Jeremy Ludvigson, both of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter, Lorrie “Jo” Ludvigson, and her children, Haluk Ludvigson and Haley Henry, of Buda, Texas; four sisters, Delores Schlosser of Minneapolis, Alyce (Bob) Hocking of Floyd, Iowa, and Virginia (Doug) Gearman and Twila (Ordell) Vaala, both of Madison, Minn.; and one sister-in-law, Pearl Ludvigson of Del Mar, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Merlin “Bud” Ludvigson; and his aunt, Mildred Huster.
