Lucille E. Novotny, 86, of Marion, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center by Vicki Standley. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Bonser of Marion; five grandchildren, Angie (John) Lawrence, Matthew (Carissa) Oltmann, Derek (Heidi) Oltmann, Kristi (Karl) Kasper, and Kayley Bonser; five great-grandchildren, Lexi and Joslyn Lawrence, Lincoln and Brecken Oltmann, and Lucy Kasper; and her best friend, Wanda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and brothers, Harold and Clarence Lodge.
Lucille was born April 20, 1928, in rural Cedar County, the daughter of John "Max" and Mary (Arnold) Lodge. She graduated from West Branch High School in 1945 and married Robert Novotny on Aug. 8, 1959, at the First United Methodist Church in Marion.
Lucille worked for Rockwell Collins for 35 years. She was a member of a square dance club, "Guys n' Dolls", the Cedar Rapids Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Hawk A Model A Ford Club and participated in Marion YMCA Water Aerobics. Lucille enjoyed everything about the outdoors and any kind of family get-together.
