Lucille Esther Folkmann was born June 14, 1924, in Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Hattie (Tschopp) Hopp. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. After graduating, she began working at Collins Radio. Lucille was united in marriage to Harold Henry Folkmann on Oct. 8, 1944, in Conroy. Following his discharge from the U.S. Navy, the couple farmed until moving to Conroy in 1960. They both worked for the Williamsburg Community School for approximately 25 years.
Lucille enjoyed her many flowers and crocheting afghans and doilies for family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching them grow. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, sang in the choir, was a church organist for 25 years and was in the Sunshine Circle, ESR and Women's Guild.
Lucille passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 90.
She is survived by four children, Dan (Kathy) Folkmann of Williamsburg, Linda (Lupe) Sepulveda of Norman, Okla., David (Kelly) Folkmann of Guernsey and Cherie (Robert) Buelow of Solon; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Folkmann of Williamsburg; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and a son, Larry Folkmann.
Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Pastor Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Conroy. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
A memorial fund has been established for Camp Courageous of Iowa or Trinity Lutheran Church.
