Lucile Kathryn Goyer Hamed, 97, of Solon, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at Solon Nursing Care Center. Private family services will be held. Entombment at Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Lucile was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Pearl Goyer. She graduated from Franklin High School. Lucile married Emmitt Hamed on Feb. 15, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa, and they were married for 56 years. They renewed their vows on May 17, 1996.
Throughout her long life, Lucile's greatest source of pride and joy was her large and growing family. She loved nothing more than to have visitors at her home of 45 years on Ozark Street NE. She loved to bowl and garden. She and Emmitt would can all of their produce. Lucile worked at Square D for 19 years. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital, baking and selling cookies. She loved to bring the extras home to her grandkids.
Lucile and Emmitt taught ALL of their family the true meaning of family and how to love and cherish the important things in life, lessons that will be carried on to future generations. She will be greatly missed by all of her family.
Lucile is survived by her children, Diane (Dave) Cray of North Richland Hills, Texas, Sandi Brunssen of Navarre, Fla., Mike (Debby) Hamed of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Denise (Randy) Feaker of Solon, Iowa; grandchildren, Shelly David, Daneen (Terry) Riley, Amy (Mike) Cable of Texas, Chris (Tim) Beerup, Robert (Tanya Rathman) Hamed of Missouri, Monica (Kevin Hawkins) Manning of Florida, Emmitt (Sarah) Hamed, Matt (Sarah) Hamed, Jamille (Kris Solberg) Feaker, Kim (Tyler) Maas, Autumn (Brian) Schwartze, and Megan (Chris) Haganman of Iowa; 36 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters; two brothers; son-in-law, Larry; and grandson, Trent.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 4080 First Ave. NE #101, Cedar Rapids, in Lucile's memory.
