Lucas Jay Farmer, 18, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. At 7 p.m. a celebration of his life will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family at 1502 Washington Dr., Vinton, IA 52349.
Lucas was born on Oct. 7, 2003, to Chris Johnson and Candace Mineck in Cedar Rapids. He was adopted, along with his siblings, Virginia and Jesse by Lynn and Stacey Farmer on Sept. 20, 2011. He was a senior at Washington High School in Vinton. Lucas enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing and spending time with friends and family. Lucas will always be remembered for the love he gave to others. He had a heart of gold and dearly loved his family. Unfortunately, the love he had for others could not heal his broken heart, and he chose to to end his life here on earth, Thursday afternoon.
Lucas is survived by his adoptive parents, Lynn Farmer of Vinton and Stacey Chamberlain-Farmer of Vinton; his biological parents, Chris Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Candace (Dustin) Van Fossen of Tama; his siblings, Tyler (Marissa) Weems of Colorado Springs, Colo., Emily Miller of Cedar Rapids, Austyn Farmer of El Paso, Texas, Tia Burke of Vinton, Beau Vinton of Vinton, Maddie Farmer, Virginia Farmer and Jesse Farmer, all of Vinton; his nephew, Benjamin Weems; and three nieces, Patriot Weems, Lillye Weems and Claira Hartman.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Alex Chamberlain.
