Lucas Charles Brenneman, 21, of Coralville, chose to end his life on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, and was welcomed to eternal life with open arms. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Parkview Church, 15 Foster Rd., Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lensing's Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Rd., Coralville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Lucas Brenneman Memorial Fund.
Lucas was born Aug. 9, 1993, in Iowa City, the son of Terry and Tresha (Mills) Brenneman. He grew up in Coralville and graduated from Iowa City West High School in 2012. Lucas was very active in many sports throughout his life and while at West High was a four-year state qualifier in track, a Drake Relays three-time qualifier, a holder of numerous records and was a member of the 2012 state champion track team.
Lucas worked as a lifeguard, later at Hy-Vee in Coralville and most recently at Texas Roadhouse.
Lucas attended Parkview Church and Grace Community Church. He loved to fish and he loved his bulldog, Roxy. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He always had a smile on his face, was good to everyone and never met anyone who wasn't a friend.
Lucas will be deeply missed by his parents, Terry and Tresha Brenneman; his two brothers, Jacob and Joshua; his grandparents, Virginia Brenneman of Oxford, Judy Buline of Coralville and Virgil and Debra Mills of West Branch; aunts and uncles, Chris Brenneman, Jamey Brenneman, Mike (Kathy) Brenneman, Kenny Voparil and Trisha (Jason) Grimm; and his eight cousins, Mayghan, Shannon, Isabella, Ashley, Katelyn, Logan, Owen and Alisha.
Lucas was preceded in death by his grandfather, Duane Brenneman; and two cousins, Amanda and Samantha Brenneman. He will be truly missed!
