Lubbock, Ruby E. Umbdenstock
Ruby E. Umbdenstock Lubbock, 87, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg following an extended illness.
Public graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton at 2 p.m. today. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St. in Vinton, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. when the procession will go to the cemetery.
Ruby was born March 1, 1923, at Garrison to George and Esther (Bridge) Burkey. She married George Umbdenstock and later married Robert Lubbock. Her husbands preceded her in death.
Ruby was employed at Lindaman Produce and Folkmann's Elevator in Vinton before her retirement. She was a member of the Urbana Christian Church where she enjoyed membership in the Christian Women's Fellowship of her congregation. While living on the farm she was a member of the “Just-A-Mere Club” and in her leisure she loved reading, watching TV, playing 500, and crossword puzzles.
Ruby is survived by her sons, Dennis (Janet) Umbdenstock of Urbana, and David (Teresa) Umbdenstock of Vinton; her grandchildren, Shannon, Brian, and Gavin Umbdenstock; her stepson, Craig (Diane) Lubbock; her stepgrandchildren, LuAnne (Doug) Postel, and Mark Lubbock; and her sister, Donna Chamberlain of Central City.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two stepsons, six brothers, and two sisters.
