Luann Renee Kasper Jenkins was born Jan. 21, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Georgia (Morrissey) Kasper. Luann graduated from Newton Senior High School. In recent years, Luann worked at A.C.T. in the accommodations department.
Luann's love for her grandchildren was abundant. She loved gardening, canning, board games, puzzles and tye dying. Afternoons at the pool and softball games were her delight. Luann lived life big and her laugh was contagious. She loved to listen to Willie Nelson. There was never any doubt of where Luann stood on any given subject. She will be missed.
Luann passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, surrounded by family, after an extremely courageous battle with cancer.
Luann is survived by two children, Tessa Burns of Wellman and Chance Burns of Kalona; five grandchildren, Ruby, Quinten, Henry, Kastiella and Kamaya; and a sister, Paula (Jim) Lundahl of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 22, at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Paws and More in Washington. Powell Funeral Home in Wellman is caring for Luann and her family.
