Lowry C. Fredrickson, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Cottage Grove Place in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 24, at Coe College.
Lowry Clifford Fredrickson was born March 1, 1932, to Clifford and Mable Carlson Fredrickson in Meriden, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 (stationed in Bad Hersfeld, Germany). He earned a B.S. in 1954 from Buena Vista College; a B.D. in 1959 from Bethel Seminary; a Th.M. in 1961 from Berkeley Baptist Divinity School (ABSW); and an M.A. and Ph.D. in 1965 and 1967, respectively from the University of Iowa. Lowry was united in marriage to Mary Beek on Aug. 12, 1960, in George, Iowa. She preceded him in death in December 2013. He taught at Coe College in the psychology department for more than 33 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Lara Fredrickson of Washington, D.C.; brother, Curtis (Dian) Fredrickson of Eagan, Minn.; brother-in-law, Karl Lind of Albert City; and many nieces and nephews.
Lowry was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents; and sister, Mary Lind.
