Lown, Dorothy Mae
Dorothy Mae Lown, 86, of Sigourney, formerly Webster, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Sigourney Care Center in Sigourney. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English. The Rev. Frances Baumert will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in the White Pigeon Cemetery, rural Webster.

A memorial fund has been established for the North Keokuk County Fire Department or the Webster United Methodist Church.
Dorothy Mae Lown was born on Feb. 18, 1925, in Sigourney, Iowa, a daughter of Add and Helen Vittetoe Stephenson. She grew up in the Webster and Sigourney communities, graduating from Sigourney High School in 1943. On June 21, 1945, she married Arville Oral Lown at the Christian Church Parsonage in Sigourney. She became a resident of the Sigourney Care Center in October 2010. Dorothy was a member of the Webster United Methodist Church, the UMW and the Webster Women's Club. She loved being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, cooking and especially making sugar cookies and noodles.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, John (Brenda) Lown of Webster, and Larry (Linda) Lown of Pender, Neb.; and her daughter, Carol (Charlie) Trier of South English. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kedra (Derek) Jackson, Jeremi (Samantha) Lown, Matthew (Danyl) Lown, Stephanie Lown, Brandon Trier (fiancee Amanda Morovits), Allissa Trier and Amber Lown; five great-grandchildren, Riley and Logan Jackson, Keyden and Kailor Lown and Cooper Trier; a sister, Ruth Wright of Sigourney; and a brother-in-law, Ivo Berg of Sigourney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Catherine Northup and Agnes Berg.
