LOWELL "LEROY" LAVELY

Lowell "Leroy" Lavely, 86, of Marion, passed away at home on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by the Rev. David O'Connor. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jeannine; children, Michael Lavely, Kimberly (Tim) Rion, Brian Lavely, Shelley (John) Frondle and Kevin Lavely; grandchildren, Lucynda Cooper, Joseph (Alisha) Rion, Stuart (Alesha) Frondle, Megan (Zachery) Arey, Dylan Frondle and Levi Lavely; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Geneva Abel, Rodney Lavely, Florence Rhodelander, Carol Crowley and Richard Lavely.
Leroy was born April 13, 1935, in Trenton, Mo., the son of Harry and Marie (Leytham) Lavely. He graduated from Galt High School in 1953. On Sept. 19, 1959, Leroy married Mary Jeannine Elgas at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Leroy worked at Wilsons/Farmstead Foods for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus 909.
Leroy delivered Meals on Wheels for 19 years. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, softball and was a fan of the Cardinals and the Cubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Donald Lavely, Claydene Lavely, Rowena Williams and Bobby Lee Lavely.
